Woke around 6-30 am and felt very refreshed. Stayed in bed until 7 and then I pulled back the curtains to check the weather. It looked fantastic. It meant I had a chance to go back to Lamorna Cove and walk the 2 1/2 miles that I had missed the night before. Unfortunately this meant that Liz had to get up as there was no way she was going to be able to sleep through me moving around.

Had breakfast and by 8-45 am I was on my way to find the oath out of town. After 10 minutes of taking photo's and finding the right path I was on my way and the track was pretty easy without any major ups or downs and before I knew it I was on my way down to Lamorna Cove. It had taken me just 55 minutes to cover the 2 1/2 miles, and what was interesting was the fact the path went around the mountain, rather than up and over. Unfortunately we didn't know that the night before, and the last thing I was prepared to do was risk it. Far better to live to fight another day!!

I had arranged to meet Liz at a coffee shop back in Mousehole between 10-30 and 11.00 am and rolled in around 10-50 ready for a latte and "a treat".

Before I carry on about the rest of the day I think you might enjoy getting another perspective on the walk and Liz has kindly agreed to provide her opinion.

Well, one thing I can contribute to this blog is this man committing to walk EVERY mile he has promised to walk....we have, on numerous occasions met walkers who will say "oh, if you cross this field, you will knock miles and time off this portion of the walk". My face lights up and I'm keen to go but looking at Pete's face - that is NOT the route we're taking! We go up the sand dunes, we go down the sand dunes - wherever the path is marked - that's where we go! He has way more mettle than I and he won't listen to winge'ing and whining - so he always hikes ahead of me and as soon as I catch up - he strides off! I have done a lot of hiking in the UK - the coast to coast twice and The Penines but this hike, although magnificent in scenery and rugged beauty is very, very difficult. I spoke to a woman this morning who told me that the rescue helicopter is called out at least twice a day on this area of path and people falling off the cliffs is unfortunately a reality - in fact, she was rather non-plussed about it!.

All in all it is a wonderful experience and a true test of our mettle - well mine - haha - as Peter just motors through with ease and resolve! My feet are covered in plasters and ibuprofen has become my best friend

I'm baaacck!

We left around Noon and quickly found our way out of town. Mousehole is a really neat little village, and if you ever find yourself in Cornwall I think you would enjoy a visit.

The path was pretty flat and before we knew it had covered the 2 miles into Newlyn, which was a complete opposite to the quaintness that was Mousehole. The next leg of the walk was the mile or so to reach Penzance, which was a pretty big town by comparison to what we have seen the past couple of days or so. This gave us the opportunity to get cash from a bank machine, as it's been days since we've been able to do so, and Liz was able to go to Boots (England's equivalent to Shoppers)! were she was able to get the stuff she needed for her feet. We were also able to visit both the train and bus station to get information on how we get up to London on Sunday, which is going to be tricky.

Finally we were on our way and the last 2 1/2 miles to get to Marazion and the great views across to St. Michael's Mount (you will need to go to Google to research). The path was right between the train line and the beach and today's weather was the best I've had in the 3 weeks I've been here.

We got into Marazion around 3-30 pm after a very relaxing walk, and I cannot believe I only have two days of walking left. It will be very strange not going walking on Sunday!

Now for some photos.

The house where one of the last speakers of the Cornish language lived.

The lighthouse at Taterdu, on the way to Lamorna Cove.

Looking down onto Lamorna Cove in weather that was so superior to that of 12 hours previous!!

Not sure I would want to be living below this little lot!
