Day 20 - A Special Thank You
This morning will be a very sad and emotional day for me as I will be saying goodbye to Dan (aka Huckleberry) and John (aka Cameraman).
Dan, as CEO of Opportunity International and John as Board Chair, have to depart the trail in order to return to Vancouver for a board meeting. There are forest fires up north, and the detour would make it impossible to get to Stehekin, their original exit point in time.
I cannot thank either Dan or John enough for agreeing to join me on this great adventure, as without them I could not return to the PCT. After my rescue from the PCT in 2018 it was agreed with my family that I would only return to the PCT if I had someone accompanying me.
Washington State is well known for its rain and numerous water sources, however never in my wildest dreams did I expect to find the conditions we have endured. The heat has been the killer as it’s mainly been in the low to mid 90’s. Couple that with the climbs we’ve done this past week, (18,600 feet +/-), and the distances between water sources, and you will get the picture.
Dan, John, thank you both for everything, as without your physical and emotional support, this leg of the journey would not have been possible. Please know I can never thank you enough. You should both be extremely proud of your accomplishments. I salute and thank you both.
Safe travels home and as I say to everyone I pass on the trail STAY SAFE.
Thank you both.
